The Hike

In mid April, 2005, we (Dave, Leslie and David) began our 3,000 mile hike along the great Continental Divide Trail. The Trail spans from the New Mexico/ Mexico border to the Montana/ Canadian border. The trail runs through 5 states including New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, spanning across some of the most rugged and beautiful terrain in the United States.
As a way to share this experience by giving back to our community, we are also conducting a fundraiser for the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County (DVSAS). DVSAS is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault and to lead the community towards ending these abuses. Each year DVSAS helps over 3,000 people, mostly women and children, recover from the effects of abuse in their lives. Many of the people served by DVSAS have nowhere else to turn to for support and help. Visit the organization’s website at www.dvsas.org to learn more.
In addition, a number of generous sponsors have helped make this fundraiser possible by offering financial support, gear and provisions needed for this trip. Please take some time to explore the links to these sponsors’ websites as well as to the DVSAS website to learn more.
UPDATE:
On October 18th at 12:18 am near Ghost Ranch, New Mexico Dave and Leslie completed the entire hike from Mexico to Canada. Our thanks and deepest gratitude goes out to our family, friends and sponsors for their incredible support during this 6 month journey.
